Ornot cycling brand – Celebrating our partnership
San Francisco’s cycling gear with a conscience
At immago, we love showcasing our work behind the scenes in apparel branding and production. But we especially enjoy celebrating the clients we partner with—brands that are breaking boundaries, sharing our values, and doing genuinely great things in their industries.
One such partner is Ornot Bike, a San Francisco-based cycling brand that perfectly combines purpose-driven design with an unwavering commitment to sustainability.
A cycling culture on the rise
Cycling has always had a place in society, whether as a form of sport, transport, leisure, or exercise, but in the last two decades, its popularity has surged. From road cycling to gravel biking and competitive racing, the appeal of two wheels continues to grow, fueled by an increasing awareness of its benefits and its accessibility
Who is Ornot?
immago has been proudly working with Ornot Bike to deliver branding and apparel trims that support their ethos and identity. The company’s vision is best summed up in their own words:
“We make clothing inspired by San Francisco’s constantly changing temperatures. With fog, wind, sun, and even rain fog, this means we are obsessed with breathability, wicking, and packability. Our gear is constructed using recycled fibres, merino wool, deadstock fabric, and a general consciousness around ethical production and quality construction. Much of our clothing is produced right here in the USA and while we may like to ride fast sometimes, we are very far from fast fashion.”
“When Matt (pictured above) started Ornot in 2013, massive logos and team kits were the norm (ask him about his last team kit). Ornot’s goal was to change the landscape by offering well designed cycling clothing, with minimal branding, made right here in California, that doesn’t break your wallet. You could be a rolling billboard, Ornot.”
A stylish range with substance
Ornot’s range spans riding jerseys, bibs, jackets, base layers and outdoor accessories. Their designs strike a balance between form and function – what some might call “fashion-forward”, but with a solid foundation of performance and purpose.
Whether you’re a competitive racer, a weekend cyclist or just enjoying the social side of cycling, Ornot has thoughtfully designed gear that supports your experience. Their focus on maintaining US-based production is also a key part of their identity; keeping things local, traceable and sustainable.
Innovation powered by partnerships
Innovation is integral to Ornot’s operations, not just internally, but through key partnerships. One standout example is their collaboration with Polartec, a global leader in technical fabrics. This relationship allows Ornot to offer cutting-edge materials that stand up to the elements and meet the demands of all riders, wherever they may be.
Our role in the Ornot journey
Our partnership with Ornot began around 18 months ago with a simple solution: QR code garment labels designed to help track lost items. Since then, the relationship has grown to encompass a wide array of branding components. These include:
- Woven labels
- Custom swing tags
- Branded zip pulls
- Heat transfer labels
- Printed cotton stretch labels
We’re proud to contribute to Ornot’s vision and help bring their garments to life in a way that reflects their values.
Sustainability at every level
From the start, Ornot has worked hard to make a difference – not only through the design of their products but also in their commitment to environmental responsibility.
They’ve been Certified Climate Neutral for the past five years and have offset their full carbon footprint annually since 2019. Every garment and operational decision is made with sustainability top of mind, forming part of a collective global effort to reduce emissions and waste.
Here’s how they put it:
“The simple answer is: we ride bikes, and we love to be able to enjoy the outdoors without pollution. The earth is our home and taking care of it is one of our top priorities as a business. You wouldn’t let your car idle in your home, would you? Neither would we, and that’s exactly why we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and offsetting the rest.”
Giving back through 1% for the Planet
Their efforts don’t stop at carbon offsetting. Ornot is also a proud participant in 1% for the Planet, donating one percent of all sales to vetted non-profits focused on environmental causes.
“1% of all sales are donated to approved nonprofit organizations committed to protecting the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the world we play in. 1% for the Planet ensures that giving goes directly to highly vetted environmental nonprofit organizations to make the most impact possible.”
Special projects: Upcycling for impact
From using certified and traceable recycled or natural fibres to launching their Special Projects collection, Ornot continues to push sustainability in new directions. This limited collection is created using deadstock fabrics and remnants – materials that would otherwise go to waste.
immago is proud to support this initiative through 100% recycled polyester woven labels, helping Ornot tell their sustainability story in every garment they make.
