The Textile, Clothing and Footwear Council of Fiji

Fiji's TCF Council

The Textile, Clothing and Footwear Council of Fiji

The Textile, Clothing and Footwear Council, or TCF Council, was created to promote Fijian manufacturing, both at home and around the world. The Council exists to advance the interests of its members and the Fijian textile industry, offering help at every stage of the manufacturing process.

From initial concept through to shipping, the TCF Council encourages and promotes Fiji’s world-class textile and clothing industry.

Make it in Fiji

Fiji has the largest and most diverse economy among South Pacific Island Nations.

The “Make it in Fiji” initiative is designed for manufacturers to commit to a process of continuous improvement in all aspects of Fijian manufacturing and business practices. A key part of the Fijian manufacturing industry is its world-class textile industry, which encompasses clothing and footwear.

Fiji has been producing some of the world’s most iconic brand-name products for customers in Australia and New Zealand for decades.

With recent expansion into the global market, the TCF is aiming to turn Fiji into a world-renowned location for textile manufacturing.

What the TCF Council does for local business

The TCF industry offers a wide range of services for its customers, whether local or international. Membership is by annual subscription and includes factories of varying size and expertise, with an elected Executive Committee providing oversight.

From graphic design and computerised digitising, through to quality assurance and goods inspection, every step of the manufacturing process is guided by the Council’s experts.

Manufacturers can be found by browsing the makeitinfiji.com database with individual company profiles and website links. Members can find potential suppliers for production, while at the same time getting any information they need quickly and easily from one comprehensive site.

Soliciting professional advice, developing new products, or sourcing distributors is all made simple with the TCF Council’s help.

An ethical foundation for everything

The Textile, Clothing and Footwear Council also fully supports initiatives that emphasise fair trade and the ethical treatment of workers, right across the supply chain.

A certification program has been introduced to ensure that factory workers in Fiji are treated with respect and dignity, that their rights and entitlements are protected, and that they work in a safe and secure environment devoid of discrimination on the basis of race, religion or gender.

The certification process is based upon a detailed audit of factory operations, which is undergone on an annual basis. Not only does this ensure continuous review of performance, but it also gives both workers and customers absolute confidence that factories which come under the “Make It In Fiji” brand have reached minimum standards acceptable for certification.

In short, we make sure our workers are looked after and treated right.
